PA Lyme Awarded Grant from Seneca Resources to Distribute Tick Signs in Western PA Parks
Seneca Resources Company, a natural gas company in northwest and north central PA, has granted PA Lyme funding to print and distribute 200 outdoor tick awareness signs in Allegheny National Forest and state parks where they have a presence, including in counties:
Cameron
Jefferson
Lycoming
Tioga
Butler
“Seneca Resources is proud to support the PA Lyme Resource Network's DARE 2B Tick Aware program," said Heather Huska, Advisor of Strategic Communications and Engagement at Seneca Resources. "Lyme disease has affected many of our employees and their families and remains a significant concern in the communities where we operate. That's why we are joining PA Lyme Resources’ effort to raise awareness and promote prevention."
One hundred signs were shipped to Allegheny National Forest. “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Seneca Resources on this tick prevention initiative,” explained Amy Tiehel, Manager of the Dare 2B Tick Aware program, “as educating outdoor recreationists in Allegheny National Forest via the signs is critical.”
The other 100 signs are available to order, a minimum of 2/maximum of 4 free signs, first come-first served to any community group in the designated counties who request them. If you are in the stated counties, click HERE for ordering instructions.
Dare 2B Tick Aware originally launched a tick sign initiative in 2021 in partnership with GetOutdoorsPA, distributing 500 tick warning signs across the state to community and state parks, camps, hiking trails and more. The response to this initiative was overwhelming, with all 500 signs distributed within 2 weeks of social media and email advertising.
“We have long wanted to reach the public in northwest and north central PA with the Dare program, so it’s exciting to get this opportunity to educate in that region via the generosity of Seneca Resources,” Amy shared.
* If you are interested in posting tick signs in your region (outside the designated counties), they are available at cost. See pricing information or download the order form to order them for your park or organization.*
